Privacy Policy — Eric's Drop to Phone

Eric's Drop to Phone moves photos, videos, PDFs, and other files between a Windows PC and a phone (iPhone or Android) on the same local Wi-Fi. It does not use a cloud account.

What we collect

The apps do not collect analytics, advertising IDs, or account data. Files stay on the PC for a short session, then the phone saves them on the device: Photos / gallery (pictures and video), Files (PDFs and other documents, or a folder you pick). Files you send from the phone are written into Downloads\DropToPhone on the PC.

Network

Traffic is HTTP on your LAN only (http://{pc-ip}:17890/...). The Windows app also advertises itself on the local network (Bonjour / mDNS) so a linked phone can find the PC if its address changes. There is no cloud backend. Do not use this on an untrusted public network if you need confidentiality.

Photos, camera, Files, and local network

The phone apps use the camera only to scan the QR code shown on Windows. On iPhone, Photo Library add permission is used to save pictures and video to Recents; choosing the Eric's Drop to Phone album asks for Photos access so it can find or create that album. On Android, incoming pictures and video are written with MediaStore (Recents or Pictures/Eric's Drop to Phone). Send to PC uses the system photo and file pickers so only items you choose leave the phone. Saving to Files writes into app storage or a folder you select; that folder stays on the device. Local Network / Nearby Wi-Fi permission is used to talk to the Windows app and to discover it on Wi-Fi.
