Charging — Eric's Drop to Phone
Decision (unchanged)
| Piece | Price |
|---|---|
| Windows zip | Free |
| iPhone App Store | USD $2.99 one-time (Plan B, no IAP) |
| Android Play | USD $2.99 one-time (no IAP) |
| Safari/Chrome QR | Free (no native app) |
Do not charge for Windows. The PC app is how people discover the product, and it is the hub. A paid Windows build would cut installs and still would not pay Apple/Google fees.
Do not add subscriptions or IAP. Apple 3.1.3(b) gets messy if Windows is paid and iOS features are gated. Plan B stays: pay once per store for the native phone client.
Why not raise the price with these features
Share sheet, Explorer Send to, PIN, named devices, and Shortcuts make the paid apps more valuable. $2.99 is still the right impulse price against “AirDrop for Windows.” Revisit $3.99 only after the listing has real-device screenshots and review volume. Changing Connect/Play price does not require a new binary.
Two phones
A household with iPhone and Android pays twice ($2.99 each). That is acceptable: two store taxes, two binaries, no cross-store unlock. Do not invent a “family key.” Safari remains free on both.
What you are selling
The native app: remembered devices, Photos vs Files, share/send, Nearby, library pull, progress, PIN. The website and Windows zip stay free on purpose.
